I saw this man before me who had the most beautiful smile and I knew he was the one. And I am right. We haven’t separated ever since. Our first date took place at Outback Steakhouse, Dave & Busters, and Bukom’s Restaurant. Geographically speaking, we went from Northern VA, Rockville, MD, and then to DC…Did he fall in love with his future bride on the first date, or was he trickin’ her? No seriously, we haven’t separated ever since.
THE ENGAGEMENT
Well, my fiance and I had two engagements. The first one was two months after we met on January 28th 2001, in which started with a discussion about marriage. On our way back from Georgetown in DC, I finally confessed my real feelings about getting married someday to a Nigerian man based on me loving my culture. When we got back to his frat house he decided to pop the big question. I was very sure of my feelings for him and I said yes right away. That day became the official courtship. For my 21st birthday he surprised me with a boat ride on the Spirit of Baltimore.
The second engagement occured when we went to Poconos for our 1st year anniversary, January 28th 2002. He placed a marquise diamond ring with diamond settings in a champagne glass filled with Moet (my favorite) and I noticed something shiny at the bottom. He proposed again and our hearts joined as one.
